What is Yoga?
Yoga is an ancient discipline that explores, develops, and integrates the body, mind, and spirit. Yoga systematically stretches and strengthens muscles throughout the body, increasing circulation to internal organs and glands, quiets the nervous system, and improves focus and concentration. This ancient system of self care brings vitality, health, deep relaxation, and peace of mind.
Yoga accomplishes spinal alignment through various poses (asanas).
The poses help you control your body by making it stronger, more flexible, better functioning and consequently, more resistant to disease and other physical problems. Centuries ago, yogis practiced these types of poses or postures to prepare their bodies for hours of meditation in an effort to commune with their true selves, not the physical bodies we often associate with who we are, but rather the spirit that lives in each of us.
